Can't see the Lion by generalarin Can't see the Lion by generalarin
This line actually has been in my head for ages.
"They're only doing it because they can't see the lion."
When I finally sat down to draw this, I was actually going between different layouts. Eventually I figured that trying to set up the situation was more trouble than it was worth and didn't really add anything to the comic. So, it became a one panel comic. I was originally going to have a guy being beat up or something, but I started with the Lion.
Somehow, I went from what I originally had planned to this. (I can only credit God for that.)
I actually like how it turned out and it gives a bigger lesson than I planned.

For my biblical reference I'll use Exodus. The story of Balaam in Numbers 22:32-33 will work too.
Moses and Aaron intervened on the Isrealites' part many times. They did their best to reign in the people and stop them from breaking God's law and stood between them and God's anger when they really messed up.
(The donkey seemed to be hindering Balaam's progress and moving to just embarrass him, but was really protecting him from the angel of God)
As I was reflecting on what I had drew I noticed how this currently seems to embody America. Even what I had written matches.
Let me explain.
The few true Christians are currently standing between the rest of America and God's wrath. Look around at America today and compare it to God's rules. It's really going down the tube. For the sake of 10, God is willing to spare a nation of sinners. (Genesis 18:32) The bible says that God blesses those who love him to the seventh and eighth generation. (Luke 1:50, Exodus 34:7
America better be thanking whatever 'god' they believe in that God does.

This is really good, and very true. Sadly, too many Christians do not show love, mercy, or kindness. But we are called to love our neighbors in ways that are entirely uncomfortable, and put us in problematic situations, and God's response to this is "Trust in Me. Because I am enough". And to be honest, there has never been a time where I did these things and He did not provide. He has always provided.
In fact, the Hebrew name for God "Yahweh" or YHWH, was a cry of help. It is a shout for assistance. Like one might give in a time of need.
This it to be paired with Yeshua, which is "Rescuer" or "Deliverer". So God/Jesus had planned this out to be a verbal response. Yeshua IS the response to Yahweh. God's standard, the Law, brought us realization of our sins, but also put us in a problematic situation. And Jesus is the rescuer, saving us by grace through faith.
Then there is the commission. Go and love others, make disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

"For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!" - Deuteronomy 32:28-29

I think that verse best describes America won't you agree?

Good job ^^ This is really well shown and sadly a reality...

P.S.: I'd depict The Lion just by standing ready so that at the moment when you're gone he'll go instantly and that standing itself to show strenght, power, wisdom and judgement. Dunno, it's just my opinion :D
